As a school or curriculum leader, it is important to regularly assess the effectiveness of your approach to whole-school curriculum implementation. The curriculum planning reflection activity is a series of questions designed to support reflection on current practice. The report generated will identify strengths and prioritise areas for improvement. This ensures that planning efforts are focused and intentional. The report will help you facilitate meaningful discussions and initiate planning actions within your school community.
Goal setting
School and curriculum leaders can foster a culture of ongoing improvement by reflecting on existing practice and setting clear goals for whole-school curriculum planning and implementation.
A goal setting resource has been developed to support goal setting activities related to aspects of whole-school curriculum planning and implementation.
How to use the goal setting resource
- Complete the curriculum planning reflection. Review your responses to identify the aspects of whole-school curriculum planning and implementation that should be prioritised.
- Remove any aspects that will not be a focus from the goal setting resource.
- Select appropriate goals from the example goals provided in the resource or create your own goals for the aspects you have identified as priorities for your wholes-school curriculum planning and implementation.
- Describe your current curriculum implementation practices and identify any existing resources that support them.
- Identify short term actions and activities that will build on existing practices or initiate change over the next 3 months.
- Describe longer term actions and activities that will support whole-school curriculum planning and implementation over the next 12 months.
- Identify how you will evaluate the effectiveness of the actions and activities you have planned.
