Respect matters: Critical and Creative Thinking

Explore content

Young people develop critical and creative thinking to respond to complex relationship challenges and pressures of the 21st century. Students develop this capability as they learn to generate and evaluate knowledge, clarify concepts and ideas, seek possibilities, consider alternatives and solve problems in relation to respectful relationships. Dispositions such as reasonableness, intellectual flexibility, a readiness to consider alternatives, and persistence are relevant to addressing issues where respect and power are under threat. Using critical and creative thinking processes assists students to make decisions and reflect on their own roles in taking ethical and respectful action.
