  1. outlining the contributing factors of World War II (for example the outcomes of the Treaty of Versailles and the League of Nations; the rise of Hitler and Japan’s imperial ambitions)
  2. identifying key events in the European theatre of war (for example Germany’s invasion of Poland in 1939; the Holocaust from 1942–45; the Russians reaching Berlin in 1945
  3. identifying key events in the Asia-Pacific theatre of war (for example the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour in 1941; the fall of Singapore in 1942; the American victory at the Battle of Midway in 1942)
